How to Buy iShares

Buying and Selling iShares ETFs

iShares can be bought or sold anytime during ASX trading hours, using the same execution strategies associated with listed shares (market, limit or stop orders, for example). There is no minimum investment size, and iShares ETFs can be traded through your investment adviser or online brokers such as:

iShares ETFs are also listed on most major platforms.

iShares are priced, traded, and settled in Australian dollars. Settlement occurs on the third business day after the trade date, just like any share listed on the ASX.

Very large orders, such as the scale required by institutional investors, can be executed through a Market Maker.

CHESS Depositary Interests (CDIs)

iShares are settled using CHESS Depositary Interests (CDIs). A CDI is a financial instrument designed by the ASX to give the CDI holder rights and entitlements equivalent to holding the foreign shares in a US-domiciled iShares fund. CDIs are issued on a 1:1 basis against the US listed iShares for all of the iShares funds.
